SITUATION

As Aberdeen Science Centre (ASC) started to focus on their sustainability and environmental responsibility, they recognized the importance of assessing their carbon footprint — a task they had not previously undertaken due to a lack of in-house know-how. Wanting to stay ahead of the curve and contribute to global sustainability efforts, they sought the expertise of Boxfish to conduct this comprehensive carbon assessment.

SOLUTION

Boxfish were engaged to create an in-depth Carbonbaseline Report for ASC, covering not only their direct Scope 1 and 2 emissions but also their indirect Scope 3 emissions. This included evaluating the carbon impact of their waste management, employee commuting, digital emissions, business travel and more. Based on the findings, Boxfish provided a detailed report with actionable recommendations on how ASC could reduce its emissions and develop a clear Net Zero Roadmap towards achieving Net Zero.

RESULT

ASC received a comprehensive understanding of their carbon footprint, enabling them to take informed steps towards improving sustainability at the site. The transparent and detailed Carbonbaseline Report, coupled with the tailored recommendations, has allowed ASC to implement effective strategies to reduce their carbon emissions and set a clear pathway towards achieving Net Zero in advance of the Scottish Governments 2045 deadline.

While the outputs from this project were technical and complex, the team at Boxfish worked with us to make the process both simple and enjoyable. Their guidance, support and expertise around our carbon, sustainability and net-zero obligations was a game changer for our team in terms of improving our confidence and capability and has allowed us to set a clear strategy for the future. For any charity and third-sector organisation looking to take a lead on ESG, look no further than Boxfish.
